Vanilla Ice
Vanilla Ice rose to hip hop stardom following the release of the single “Ice Ice Baby,†in 1989 which sold over 17 million copies and was the first hip hop single to ever top the Billboard Charts. Since then, Ice has struggled with and overcame drug abuse, surviving an attempted suicide by drug overdose in 1994 to return to the stage performing a less mainstream, more rock-oriented show that he calls “Hip Hop/Metal Molten Hip Hop†based on his most recent album “Hard to Swallow.â€
Tone Loc
Tone Loc’s singles “Funky Cold Medina†and “Wild Thing†grabbed tops spots on the Billboard 100 charts in 1988 with the release of his debut album “Loc-ed after Dark.†Other singles, “All Through The Night†and “I Got It Goin’ On†were popular radio plays in the early 90’s as well, establishing the rapper amongst the legends of hip hop. In addition to rapping, Loc is a voice actor, appearing on shows like “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective,†“King of the Hill,†and “Yes, Dear.â€
